Pasfield House becomes a Bed & Breakfast
In 2007 after an extensive renovation, Pasfield House Inn proprietor, Tony Leone, opened the former residence of George Pasfield, Jr. as a Bed and Breakfast. It was previously used as offices, a reception and a meeting facility. A popular place during the legislative session for state legislative gatherings, it also houses legislators and lobbyists. One of Springfield’s most distinctive, privately owed historic structures, Pasfield House has become a popular accommodation for overnight guests visiting Springfield.

In 2006, the City of Springfield designated the area surrounding the former residence; the Pasfield House Historic Area commemorating the Pasfield Family that became one of Springfield’s wealthiest early settlers that impacted the community’s development. At the time, Tony Leone, stated “the designation is a fitting tribute not only to the Pasfields’ contributions to Springfield. It brings attention to a family that made Springfield a better place. We should all try to make Springfield a better place.”
Since completion of the restoration, Leone has been commended by the Illinois General Assembly for being a catalyst for reinvestment in the once-declining neighborhood west of the State Capitol. Pasfield House has been called “A City Showplace” by the State Journal-Register and recognized by the Illinois Times as the “The Best Rehab of a Historic Building or Residence of 2003. ” Leone hopes, “public awareness of restorations like the Pasfield House will encourage others to initiate their own rehabilitation projects.”
Pasfield House is one of Springfield’s most distinctive, privately owned historic structures recognized for its interior design. A well known local appraiser reported after the work was completed “The house has been restored to a standard by which every Springfield renovation project will be judged in the future.”
